I am all about a casual jean outfit + a t-shirt but sometimes I have functions I need to be a little dressier (or just want to dress up) which is why I love this basic white blouse. I like to dress up for church on Sundays because the church is definitely a lot more casual at the church Michael is a pastor at so it’s fun to dress up more than the usual. I remember the days when I was in a dress and a bow in my hair every week (thanks, mom!) — always dressed in Sunday best!
I wore this outfit when Michael and I took our Charleston trip and stayed at The Dewberry! It was perfect because the weather was nice enough to wear a 3/4 length sleeve at night and it not be so hot. I already wore it again to a late dinner and it was great because it wasn’t super hot. Alabama summers can be pretty brutal but as long as you selectively pick when to wear an outfit like this, you can get away with an outfit like this during the summer.
I LOVE this shirt because even though it’s a basic white blouse, it has a little bit of an edge to it because of the pleats. Also, because of where the pleats pull in, creating a V on the shirt, it is very slimming through the waist line. And even though it’s a white shirt, it is not see-through (praise!). It is thick enough that you don’t need to wear a cami underneath it! It dips longer in the back which is great for hiding the back side.
With the pleats, it gives this shirt of an edge (HELLO! Totally my style!) and is great for a lot of different accessories. I choose to dress it up more since we were going to dinner. I love that is is so basic because there are so many different ways you can style it. I got this in a size S because it is a little shorter in the front so I went up a size to because I needed it to be longer in the front!
How was your Fourth of July?! Michael and I went out of town with some of our friends! Also, if you have some good basics in your closet you love, please share them in the comments section below!
